Personnel: Dennis Mahoney, Lee Franke, Paul Huekell, Mary Eisenbies, Jim Burdick
Historical Note: This piece originally began with Dennis reciting his poem "Matsu-An," a lovely poem but Dennis is not the best of orators. The piece itself was recorded over the length of two 7 inch reels and then Jim spliced the tapes onto a 10 inch reel. Even then it was difficult to pinpoint the splice. (Jim does know where it is.) When the group listened to the final playback it was remarked that it sounded like the four seasons, although at the time no one really expected to identify natural places to split the music.
Notes: I dropped the poem and concentrated on the music. After several close listenings I identified three natural shifts in the music and split it into the tracks we have here. Where the splice had been previously made I found a very small space (< 3 milliseconds) and tightened it up so that it is now almost impossible for anyone to identify where it occurs. Noise reduction > click & pop elimination > compression > normalize to -.2dB.
